Engineers and Statisticians have an important role to play in the arena of Six Sigma. Quality Engineers have the training and the capability to identify the defects due to which the quality of the final product is suffering. Statistical methods that are robust and user friendly should be employed so that all team members of Six Sigma are able to access and measure their success with ease. A statistician should be on the lookout for better and more innovative tools in the market that can be of help in the Six Sigma Project.
As part of their leadership role, statisticians and quality engineers should become visible advocates for Six Sigma and promote the approach and its benefits at every opportunity. It’s of utmost importance for these quality engineers and statisticians to be well versed with the techniques of six sigma. Thus they should be possessing the relevant skill and have ample of experience in implementing the Six sigma strategies across the functions of that have been taken under the preview of six sigma.
